Florida hoops finalizing season opener against USF in Jacksonville

Florida basketball is looking to damage in 2024-25, and it looks like the season should open with a neutral site game against the USF Bulls.

Florida men’s basketball is in the middle of getting its 2024-25 schedule in place, and it looks like the season opener will be on Nov. 4 against the South Florida Bulls at the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, according to Swamp247.

Florida and USF last met up in December 2021 at the Orange Bowl Classic in Sunrise, Florida. The Gators won the matchup, 66-55, but neither team has the same players at this point.

The only officially announced game on Florida’s schedule is the Dec. 4 matchup with Virginia, which is part of the SEC-ACC Challenge. Reports have UF in Orlando for the ESPN Events Invitational at the end of November and the annual FSU game is expected to in the middle of the month.

Florida is also expected to participate in the Jumpman Invitational against North Carolina on Dec. 17. The SEC schedule won’t be announced for another two months.

[autotag]Todd Golden[/autotag] led his team to 24 wins last season, a program high since 2016-17. Florida also returned to the NCAA Tournament only to be knocked out in the first round by Colorado. A deeper run is expected in 2024-25, which is why Florida is strengthening its schedule a bit.
