Florida gets tidy boost in NET rankings after Kentucky road win

The Gators snuck back into the top 40 of the NET rankings thanks to the OT road win at Kentucky.

Florida basketball earned its first Quadrant 1 victory of the season on Wednesday night with a thrilling overtime upset of the Kentucky Wildcats inside Rupp Arena. It was also the Gators’ first top-10 road win since 2003 when they beat they Mississippi State Bulldogs on the road.

As a result of the Quad 1 win, the Orange and Blue rose five spots to No. 36 overall in the NET rankings, putting them between the No. 35 Utah Utes and the No. 37 Mississippi State Bulldogs.

Here’s how the quadrant system breaks things up:

  • Quadrant 1: Home 1-30, Neutral 1-50, Away 1-75
  • Quadrant 2: Home 31-75, Neutral 51-100, Away 76-135
  • Quadrant 3: Home 76-160, Neutral 101-200, Away 135-240
  • Quadrant 4: Home 161-353, Neutral 201-353, Away 241-353

The Gators are now 1-6 against Quadrant 1 opponents, 4-0 against Quadrant 2 opponents, 6-0 against Quadrant 3 opponents and 4-0 against Quadrant 4 opponents. They hold a 15-6 record overall and a 5-3 mark in Southeastern Conference play.

The Gators will travel to College Station to take on the Texas A&M Aggies on Saturday, Feb. 3, for the first game of the new month. The matchup is set to tip off at 4 p.m. ET and can be watched on ESPN2.
