With the Big Ten’s announcement on Wednesday that it will be returning this fall after initially deciding to postpone the fall season, USA TODAY Sports had to update its full rankings of the FBS teams competing this fall to reflect that.
With the inclusion of the Big Ten teams, the rankings go from 76 teams to 90 teams in total. Florida has now dropped to No. 8 in the rankings after ranking No. 6 on the 76-team rankings. No. 2 Ohio State and No. 6 Penn State, who rank above the Gators, were not previously included on the poll.
The Gators are still the third-highest ranked team in the SEC, however, behind No. 3 Alabama and No. 4 Georgia. Now that Big Ten teams appear in the poll, only one other SEC school, No. 9 Texas A&M, appears in the top 10.
No. 12 LSU, No. 18 Auburn and No. 23 Tennessee are the only other league teams in the top 25.
It’s still unclear how the Big Ten’s return on Oct. 24 will impact the college football landscape, but presumably, it will attempt to complete its season in time to be considered for the College Football Playoff.
Here are the full rankings.
