The Florida Gators football team has been humming along on offense so far this season, and despite a letdown in College Station last weekend in addition to a COVID-19 outbreak this week, there is still some good news for the Gator Nation.
Every snap starts in the hands of redshirt senior Brett Heggie, who was named to the Rimington Trophy Watch List on Friday for his exemplary play at the center position through the first three weeks of Southeastern Conference play.
Heggie was one of our players to watch for the Gators’ SEC Week 3 game against the Texas A&M Aggies after earning the SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week award for this performance in Week 1 against the Ole Miss Rebels. If he continues his superlative performance through the rest of the schedule, he could earn himself a place among the Gators greats at his position — perhaps the best since Maurkice Pouncey a decade ago.
Congratulations to @HeggieBrett74 for being named to the @rimingtontrophy Watch List! 👏 #GatorStandard 🐊 pic.twitter.com/EZZB5SDxIE
