The Associated Press released the voting results for the Week 11 top 25 poll, and a lot of changes were made from last week’s edition.
Unfortunately for the Florida Gators, another loss means the team is receiving little-to-no confidence in the AP poll. The Gators were left out of the rankings this week and its upcoming schedule indicates they may not make it back in anytime soon.
Florida’s future opponents, on the other hand, have done a stellar job at keeping its momentum and one team is hanging on tight to its spot in the 2024 College Football Playoff.
The Florida State Seminoles have been at the No. 4 spot for five consecutive weeks as they keep stockpiling wins, most recently against the Pittsburgh Panthers at home. The Seminoles are red hot and look like they’ll be lifting the national championship if games keep going their way.
Florida State toppled Pittsburgh in a low-scoring affair, 24-7.
The Florida Gators’ next opponent, the LSU Tigers, actually tumbled five spots down the list to No. 18 after taking a double-digit loss to the Alabama Crimson Tide, 42-28. The Bayou Bengals now become the third-toughest opponent on Florida’s remaining schedule.
The last remaining opponent is the No. 16 Missouri Tigers, who fell down two spots after a substantial loss to the No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs, 30-21. Mizzou went toe-for-toe with the national champs until the fourth quarter when UGA began to scurry away with the lead.
The Tigers held strong against a top-ranked Georgia offense, something Florida struggled to do during the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party. If the same Mizzou team shows up when they host the Gators in Week 12.
The Florida Gators will try to redeem the overtime loss to Arkansas during its road trip to Baton Rouge when the Gators take on the LSU Tigers. The game is slated for 7:30 p.m. EST and will broadcast on the SEC Network.
