Billy Napier and his army of staffers have been working tirelessly to create an inviting environment for the top prep prospects in the nation. While the team has a steep hill to climb as far as returning the Orange and Blue back to a premier collegiate destination, their work has already begun to show some promise.
Four-star linebacker [autotag]Kristopher Jones[/autotag] out of Fairfax (Virginia) has been a target for the Gators in the 2024 recruiting class dating back to last summer when the program extended a scholarship offer to the coveted athlete. The 6-foot-2-inch, 220-pound middle defender has already stopped in Gainesville thrice unofficially and has an official visit set for the opening weekend of June.
So far, Florida has managed to achieve its goal of making the rising high school senior feel welcome on campus.
“My relationship is great with them,” Jones told Swamp247. “I just feel like the family feel that the program brings, not just from the coaching staff but from the people around the staff, they just treat their recruits well.”
The only other school to have an official visit date set with him is the Georgia Bulldogs, who are slated for the weekend of June 16. The Penn State Nittany Lions and Virginia Tech Hokies are also in the mix for an OV as well.
Jones is ranked No. 163 overall and No. 15 at his position nationally according to the 247Sports composite while the On3 industry ranking has him at Nos. 206 and 20, respectively. Florida holds the long 247Sports crystal ball for him while also narrowly leading in On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine with a 22.4% chance of signing him. Penn State (16.4%), Georgia (14.0%) and Virginia Tech (9.4%) follow behind.
