Florida football tight end to enter NCAA transfer portal

Gators tight end and former four-star recruit Gavin Hill announced his intentions to enter the transfer portal.

Florida football redshirt freshman tight end Gavin Hill has decided to enter the NCAA transfer portal, making an announcement via social media on Wednesday evening.

“I would like to thank Coach (Billy) Napier and Coach (Russ) Callaway for giving me the opportunity to play the game that I love,” Hill wrote. “During my time at The University of Florida I have learned a lot and have made lifelong connections. After prayer and support from my family, I will be entering the transfer portal with 3 years of eligibility left.”

Hill, a consensus four-star recruit by 247Sports, ESPN, On3 and Rivals, made the switch this past offseason to play tight end after being an edge defender.

The 6-foot-3-inch, 246 pounds tight end attended Buchholz High School in Gainesville and served as tight end on the offensive side of the ball, but was primarily seen at the defensive line position.

Hill did not see the field during this past 2024 season.

Tracking Gators who plan to transfer

Hill is the 13th Gator to announce his intentions to enter the transfer portal.

The tight end joins edge Justus Boone, tight end Arlis Boardingham, walk-on edge Bryce Capers, defensive lineman Kelby Collins, cornerback Ja’Keem Jackson, wide receiver Andy Jean, quarterback Parker Leise, edge Quincy Ivory, edge Jack Pyburn, linebacker Deuce Spurlock, offensive lineman Christian Williams and offensive lineman Mike Williams.
