It was a disappointing season for the Orange and Blue in 2023, one that saw the program reach a nadir unseen since the mid-1940s after losing its third-straight season en route to a 5-7 finish. While there is plenty of blame to go around, the fact remains that Billy Napier and Co. fell short of their goals this fall.
The Gators missed out on the bowl season and the College Football Playoffs and now that those are over the sports media has begun publishing their final standings for last season’s campaign. Among those is CBS Sports’ Chip Patterson, who kept the Orange and Blue at No. 45 overall in his final rankings sandwiching them between the No. 44 UTSA Roadrunners and No. 46 Air Force Falcons.
The Southeastern Conference schools ranked among the top 25 are the No. 4 Alabama Crimson Tide, followed by the No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs, No. 8 Missouri Tigers, No. 10 Ole Miss Rebels, No. 12 LSU Tigers and No. 18 Tennessee Volunteers. The Kentucky Wildcats (No. 39) and Texas A&M Aggies (No. 41) also finished ahead of Florida.
