Florida falls in NET rankings after road loss at Tennessee

The Gators slipped a bit in the NET rankings after their Quad 1 loss.

Florida basketball suffered its third loss in Southeastern Conference competition and its fifth loss away from the O’Connell Center on Tuesday with an 85-66 defeat at the Tennessee Volunteers. The Gators were outmatched from horn to horn and simply could not break the spell of the Vols’ intimidating defense.

As a result of the resounding Quadrant 1 loss, the Orange and Blue fell six spots to No. 55 overall in the NET rankings, putting them between the No. 54 Boise State Broncos and No. 56 Virginia Tech Hokies.

Here’s how the quadrant system breaks things up:

  • Quadrant 1: Home 1-30, Neutral 1-50, Away 1-75
  • Quadrant 2: Home 31-75, Neutral 51-100, Away 76-135
  • Quadrant 3: Home 76-160, Neutral 101-200, Away 135-240
  • Quadrant 4: Home 161-353, Neutral 201-353, Away 241-353

Florida now is 0-5 against Quadrant 1 opponents, 3-1 against Quadrant 2 opponents, 2-0 against Quadrant 3 opponents and 6-0 against Quadrant 4 opponents.

Florida remains on the road for its next matchup, traveling to Columbia, Missouri, to take on the Missouri Tigers on Saturday, Jan. 20. Tipoff is slated for a late 8 p.m. ET start and will be broadcast on ESPNU.
