Florida baseball head coach [autotag]Kevin O’Sullivan[/autotag] has agreed on a contract extension that will keep him in Gainesville through 2033, according to a report from Jacob Rudner of Swamp247.
O’Sullivan’s average salary will jump from $1,220,598 to $1,840,000, making him the second-highest-paid SEC coach behind Vanderbilt’s Tim Corbin.
Sully’s resume speaks for itself. The Gators are 277-172 (.681) under O’Sullivan, they’ve reached the College World Series eight times, won the SEC East seven times, won the SEC outright six times
O’Sullivan has also won the SEC Coach of the Year three times, produced 13 first-round MLB draft picks since 2012, and in 2017, he delivered the first national championship in program history.
“It is an honor and a privilege to serve as the head baseball coach at the University of Florida, and I am excited to continue the challenge of bringing a National Championship back to Gainesville throughout the foreseeable future,” O’Sullivan said in a statement provided to Swamp247.
Florida enters the 2024 season with national championship hopes. The Gators ended the 2023 season as the runner-up, losing a three-game series to LSU. O’Sullivan proved that he’s able to adapt to the modern recruiting landscape by plucking some immediate replacements out of the transfer portal while still bringing in an elite freshman class.
