Even though Florida didn’t play a game during Week 8, the Gators fell two spots in the USA TODAY Sports re-rank.
The Orange and Blue now sit at No. 35 overall in the rankings, but a clash with No. 2 Georgia this week could change that. No, that’s not a typo. Georgia is ranked second behind Michigan on this list. Ohio State, Washington and Florida State round out the top five.
As for the rest of the SEC, No. 9 Alabama jumped into the top 10 with a win over now-No. 19 Tennessee. Ole Miss and Missouri both jumped seven spots to Nos. 13 and 15, respectively. LSU is No. 22, Kentucky is No. 31 and the rest are ranked below Florida. Arkansas, which Florida plays after Georgia, is down 11 spots to No. 88 overall.
A strong outing against the Bulldogs could move Florida up, but Florida’s downward trend on these rankings could continue with a blowout.
