Florida cracks top 10 in SEC Power Poll after Week 2 win over Samford

The SEC Power Poll is a bit more bullish than some of the other metrics when it comes to Florida’s standing among its SEC peers.

Week 2 of the college football season saw the Florida Gators earn their first win of the 2024 campaign against the Samford Bulldogs in the Swamp.

While a 45-7 win over an FCS school is not much to get excited about, hopefully, it provides Billy Napier and Co. some guidance on how to calibrate this fall’s squad. In the meantime, the Gators are a bit of an afterthought in a top-heavy Southeastern Conference — which is now bolstered by the addition of the Texas Longhorns and Oklahoma Sooners.

Chase Goodbread of the Tuscaloosa News published his SEC Power Poll after the weekend’s action wrapped up and pushed the Orange and Blue up a notch from No. 11 to No. 10 after the victory at home.

“If a rout of Samford was QB DJ Lagway‘s coming out party, UF had better throw him another bash against the Aggies,” Goodbread notes.
