Despite a first half of futility that saw the Gators score just 12 points in 20 minutes, [autotag]Todd Golden[/autotag]’s gang made a game of it, but unfortunately, Florida fell to their hosts the Texas A&M Aggies, 54-52. What could have been a blowout for TAMU once again came down to the wire and turned into the fourth-straight one-score loss for the Orange and Blue — which was able to trim the lead to one late in the game but never led — against the Aggies.
Ahead of Wednesday night’s matchup, the Gators had cracked the top 50 of the NET rankings making their way to No. 48; the loss, however, bumped them from that upper echelon but only just outside at No. 51. What could have been the first Quadrant 1 win for the team instead left them 0-6 in Quad 1, 2-2 in Quad 2, 5-0 in Quad 3 and 3-0 in Quad 4.
Next up for Florida is a road trip to face the Mississippi State Bulldogs late Saturday night. MSU holds a 12-6 record overall but just a 1-5 mark in conference play and is currently ranked No. 56 in the NET. Tipoff is set for 8:30 p.m. EST inside Humphrey Coliseum in Starkville, Mississippi and the game can be watched on the SEC Network or heard on the Gators IMG Sports Network.
