Florida basketball finished off the month of January on a strong note, winning four straight including a signature win at the Kentucky Wildcats. Unfortunately, the Gators were unable to bridge their success over to February on Saturday, relinquishing a second-half lead to fall to the Texas A&M Aggies, 67-66.
Following the loss, the Pomeroy College Basketball Ratings saw the Gators fall two spots from our previous update to No. 33 overall. That nestles the Orange and Blue between the No. 32 Texas Tech Red Raiders and No. 34 Utah State Aggies.
The Pomeroy rankings use adjusted efficiency margin — the difference between adjusted offensive efficiency and adjusted defensive efficiency — to rank all teams.
Golden’s gang has a margin of plus-16.74 (down 0.23 points) which means the team is expected to score 16.74 more points than the average opponent. They rank 19th in adjusted offensive efficiency (118.5) and an improved 82nd in adjusted defensive efficiency (101.7).
KenPom also has Florida’s overall strength of schedule rated at plus-7.31, which is 33rd in the nation; its non-conference schedule rating received a score of plus-1.14 which puts the Gators at No. 137.
The Gators will return home to host the Auburn Tigers inside the O’Connell Center on Saturday, Feb. 10. Tipoff is slated for 3:30 p.m. ET and the game will be broadcast on the SEC Network.
