Florida basketball in The Athletic’s ‘Next Four Out’ ahead of Vandy game

Florida basketball remains on the wrong side of The Athletic’s NCAA Tournament bubble.

Florida basketball is teetering on the edge of the 2023 NCAA Tournament bubble as the regular season starts to wane. The Gators managed to score a huge Quadrant 1 win over the Tennessee Volunteers to start the month but since then have been treading water against superior teams on the road.

In The Athletic’s previous bubble watch update, the Orange and Blue were listed as one of many teams with “work to do”. This time around, writer Brian Bennett offered his full bracketology which has Florida in the final spot, coming in last in the “Next Four Out” tier. The Gators are joined by the Seton Hall Pirates, Wake Forest Demon Deacons and Oklahoma Sooners, respectively, as the teams on their last tournament gasp.

Next up for the Orange and Blue are the Vanderbilt Commodores, who travel to Gainesville to take on the Gators inside the O’Connell Center on Saturday, Feb. 11. Tipoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. EST and the game can be followed by either watching the SEC Network or listening on the Gator Sports Network.
