The 2021 basketball recruiting cycle will wrap up here in the coming weeks and the focus will start to shift to the 2022 class. For the Florida Gators, they have yet to land a commitment in next’s year’s prep crop and are coming off a 2021 cycle where they added just one player.
Mike White and his staff have resorted to that transfer portal for 2021 but it’s tough to sustain success that way. With the 2022 class, they are hoping to haul in a good one as they have their eyes on several prospects. Among them is three-star small forward Ven-Allen Lubin.
The 6-foot-6-inch, 195-pound recruit out of Orlando, Florida, has a total of six offers in his recruitment but is a player that’s on the rise in the Sunshine State.
Lubin recently caught up with Jamie Shaw of Rivals.com to dish on his recruitment and he talked about the teams that are contacting him the most of late. Among them? The Florida Gators.
“They are telling me how good their program is and the direction they are heading. They tell me they can see me playing with their guards, and their bigs and I can see myself doing that. I feel I can be in a position there to make some plays.”
USF and Alabama are two other programs showing interest right now and just might be Florida’s top competition. Programs like UCF, Oklahoma State, Miami, Dayton and Virginia are also in contact with Lubin but have yet to offer him.
With a need at small forward, Lubin is a prospect to keep an eye on for the Gators. Let’s see if they amp up the pursuit in the coming months.
