[vertical-gallery id=99269]The last time the New England Patriots and Los Angeles Chargers met, a playoff game was at stake. Both teams faced off in the 2019 AFC Divisional Playoff Round. Unfortunately for the Chargers, this game was the definition of one-sided.

The Patriots got the scoring started early. Sorry Michel scored a pair of touchdowns in the first quarter, and the second one was able to counter a 43-yard touchdown pass from Philip Rivers to Keenan Allen. After the first quarter New England led 14-7.

The second quarter is when things would really begin to break open. The Patriots did all the scoring in the quarter, as Philip Dorsett collect a 15-yard touchdown pass from Tom Brady. Runs by Rex Burkhead and Michel finished off the scoring in the second quarter, and the Patriots were able to gain control.

The Chargers would make a little bit of a push in the final two quarters as Melvin Gordon scored a touchdown to the third quarter. Touchdowns from Virgil Greene and Antonio Gates made in the score look a little closer, but it was not enough to overtake the Patriots.

Tom Brady had a good game, going 34-of-44 on the afternoon, throwing for 343 yards and a touchdown. However, it was the impacts of Michel and Julian Edelman that would be felt the most. Michel finished the game with 24 carries for  129 yards and three touchdowns. Edelman provided a presence for the receiving game, catching nine receptions 451 yards.

Philip Rivers was able to find holes in the Patriots secondary. He went 25-of-51 on the afternoon, and for 331 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception. Melvin going the ball nine times for 50 yards, to go along with one touchdown.. Tyrell Williams led Los Angeles and receiving the five catches for 94 yards.
