Jaxson Hayes and Zion Williamson once squared off on the hardwood long before becoming teammates as rookies this season with the New Orleans Pelicans.
As it turned out, Hayes played his first AAU game with 22 Vision in 2017 against Williamson and SC Supreme. Hayes tallied three points, nine rebounds and five blocks in the win over SC Supreme while Williamson had 26 points and seven rebounds.
Hayes reminisced a little bit on Instagram and posted a photo that snapped him defending Williamson when they played each other on April 21, 2017.
Of course, Hayes eventually played collegiately at Texas while Williamson became the Consensus National Player of the Year at Duke during the 2018-19 season before they went on to become first-round picks by the Pelicans.
The two rookies have become good friends this year in New Orleans and have taken part in a number of activities off of the court together, from attending a New Orleans Saints game to going to a Tulane football game.
