A big domino fell LSU’s way on Saturday afternoon when five-star safety Sage Ryan announced his commitment to the Tigers.

Ryan, a 5-foot-11, 193-pound safety from Lafayette Christian Academy in Lafayette, La., picked the defending champions over Alabama.
LSU was often considered the leader in Ryan’s recruitment, but the Crimson Tide made a late push to try and pry Ryan out of Louisiana. However, his relationship with LSU’s coaching staff would prove too much for Alabama.
Ryan is a dynamic athlete who, much like Derek Stingley Jr. and Eli Ricks, could help the Tigers as a true freshman in 2021.
A two-way player in high school, Ryan could play safety or corner with the Tigers, but he’s expected to begin his career at safety.
Ryan is the No. 28 player overall in the class of 2021, according to 247Sports. He is also the No. 1 safety in the country and the No. 2 player in Louisiana.
After Ryan’s commitment, LSU moves up to No. 4 in 247Sports team composite rankings. He is the first five-star in LSU’s 2021 class.
