The Washington Huskies had a successful recruiting weekend, hosting plenty of 2025 commits and important prospects for their 27-17 win over Michigan on Saturday. But one of the biggest names on the docket was missing.
On Monday afternoon, On3’s Chad Simmons reported that the 5-foot-11, 185-pound prospect Bralan Womack from Hartfield Academy in Flowood, Mississippi, was unable to make the trip to Seattle over the weekend but quickly rescheduled. Simmons stated that Womack, who is ranked as the nation’s No. 22 prospect and No. 2 safety by the 247Sports Composite, will now take an unofficial visit to Montlake on November 2 when Washington is scheduled to take on USC.
If Womack was able to make the trip, he would’ve seen a stellar performance from Washington’s safeties, headlined by Kamren Fabiculanan’s interception of Michigan quarterback Jack Tuttle in the fourth quarter. But defensive coordinator Steve Belichick showed just how versatile the position is in his defense.
Fabiculanan and Cameron Broussard both stepped up into the box to help defend the run and play man coverage against tight end Colston Loveland, putting together a very strong day and proving just how important the position is in Washington’s new defense.
Safeties coach Vinnie Sunseri has done an impressive job getting the Huskies in the race for the talented safety, and his recruitment is worth keeping a close eye on going forward.
