No time to rest in the world of college football recruiting. The Oklahoma Sooners just wrapped up the 2021 recruiting cycle, but in the words of Bill Belichick, we’re on to 2022.
Currently, the Oklahoma Sooners have four recruits committed to the 2022 recruiting cycle. The first being inside linebacker Kobie McKinzie of Lubbock-Cooper, he pledged to the Sooners in January of 2020. That was followed up by three wide receivers in Talyn Shettron of Edmond (OK), Luther Burden of Saint Louis (MO), and Jordan Hudson of Garland (TX).
Lincoln Riley and the offense can now add a running back to the mix. Raleek Brown of Mater Dei in Santa Ana, California, has committed to the Sooners. He made his announcement on Friday evening.
BREAKING: 5 🌟 RB Raleek Brown has just Committed to Oklahoma!
The 5’8 185 RB from Santa Ana, CA chose the Sooners over LSU, Oregon, Alabama, Michigan, and others

The No. 3 rated player out of California becomes the highest-rated commit to Oklahoma for the Sooners in the early going. He is also the first five-star composite to commit to play for DeMarco Murray and Lincoln Riley. In the 2021 class, the only five-star came from top quarterback Caleb Williams. Williams and Brown could be quite the duo for OU in the future.
What remains to be seen is how this will impact the recruitment of Colorado running back Gavin Sawchuk. The No. 2 running back of the class has the Sooners among his top three schools. With Brown now in play for Oklahoma, does this help the Michigan Wolverines or Stanford Cardinals land Sawchuk.
Regardless, this was a huge win for the Sooners as they won a key recruiting battle. The Alabama Crimson Tide, Michigan, Oklahoma State Cowboys, Tennessee Vols, and USC Trojans were all among the schools in contention for Brown’s commitment.
