Five-star 2025 prospect talks UNC basketball in recruitment

A five-star UNC basketball recruiting target dished on the Tar Heels as he updated his recruitment.

The North Carolina Tar Heels’ have the No. 1 recruiting class for the 2024 cycle with three players committed. It’s a big class for head coach Hubert Davis and his staff in the 2024 cycle and they will look to build on that for the 2025 cycle as well.

Among the few players that the Tar Heels have offered in the 2025 class is five-star Darryn Peterson. The Ohio native is a top 3 player in the class per the 247Sports rankings and has a total of 18 offers so far.

Peterson caught up with Jamie Shaw of On3 to update his recruitment and in the article, he offered his thoughts on the North Carolina program:

North Carolina: “Coach (Hubert) Davis has been to a few of my games. The fact he comes to watch me where there are all kinds of other good players means a lot. That’s big that he’s picking my game to come to watch. We’re supposed to get on the phone soon.

“They’re guard dominant. They give their guards freedom and let them get off and play how they want to play. That is big for me.”

It’s still very early in Peterson’s recruitment but it’s good to hear that the Tar Heels continue to show interest and are in contact with him.

He’s certainly a prospect to keep an eye on moving forward for the Tar Heels in the 2025 class.
