The goal at the University of Texas is and should be competing for Big 12 Championships and getting into the College Football Playoffs. The other goal is beating the Oklahoma Sooners, your biggest rivals. Tom Herman hasn’t shown that he can do that. He is 1-4 in five opportunities over four seasons.

Matt Campbell on the other hand is 2-2 against the Sooners. In his second year at Iowa State, the Cyclones started 2-2 and had just lost to Texas 17-7. They traveled to Norman to face the No. 3 ranked Sooners. Iowa State won that game 38-31. More importantly, Campbell did it with a third string walk-on at quarterback.

This year, Campbell did it again by a score of 37-30. He has one more win over Oklahoma than Herman and he will face them for a fifth time in four years, just as Tom did. When facing them, they never lost by more than 10 points. The score margin is 143-140 in favor of the Cyclones. The Longhorns lose the score margin 200-171 in favor of the Sooners.
