Five LSU stats to know ahead of the Tigers road trip to Lexington, Kentucky.
LSU is 16-1 following a loss under Ed Orgeron
Until last season, the Tigers were perfect following a loss. The only loss coming against Alabama one week following the loss to Texas A&M. In those two games combined, the Tigers managed just 24 total points. They gave up 75 points with most of the damage coming from the Tide.
Can LSU improve to 17-1?
LSU is 18-10 under Orgeron vs Top 25 teams
Prior to Saturday’s game against Kentucky, the Tigers are 1-3 in their last four games against ranked opponents and 0-1 this year. Prior to 2020, LSU posted a 17-7 record against top 25 opponents. They will need a solid effort to make it 19-10. They currently have four more ranked opponents on the schedule over the next four games.
What will that record look like on Nov. 7 after the stretch of ranked opposition comes to an end ahead of the UL-Monroe game?
Max Johnson-Kayshon Boutte connection proving lethal
In their first season plus playing together, Johnson and Boutte are proving to be one of the top duos in LSU history. With their next touchdown connection, they will move into the top five in school history matching Zach Mettenberger-Jarvis Landry at 15 touchdowns. They are currently 10 behind Joe Burrow-Justin Jefferson for the best connection in school history.
Can they get into the top four after Saturday?
Max Johnson is one touchdown pass from the top 10 in school history
Max Johnson has gotten off to a hot start for his sophomore season. Through five games, the southpaw has 16 touchdowns. His next scoring throw will tie him with Josh Booty (2000), Jordan Jefferson (2009), and Alan Risher (1982) at No. 10 for touchdown passes in a single season.
Can Johnson throw 12 more this season to match JaMarcus Russel (2006) and Matt Mauck (2003) for second-most in a single season? Joe Burrow’s 60 touchdown season likely won’t be touched any time soon.
