Fisch details Bill Belichick’s potential impact with Washington

The Washington Huskies may get a lot of help from future Hall of Fame head coach Bill Belichick this year.

Jedd Fisch and Bill Belichick only worked together for one season with the New England Patriots, when Washington’s coach acted as the team’s quarterbacks coach during the 2020 season before taking his first head coaching gig with the Arizona Wildcats.

However, that was more than enough time for the two to form a strong connection that continues to this day. Not only did Fisch hire Belichick’s son Steve as the team’s defensive coordinator, but he hosted the eight-time Super Bowl champion for a week during spring practice and may continue to see him drop by this fall.

“He is fully invested in our program,” Fisch told The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman. “When we were at Arizona, I would get emails or calls from Bill and he would give me things that he saw in our film. He watched our film every week. He would give me a whole rundown of certain things to look at and think about, which was just incredible.”

If Belichick continues the intense involvement that he showed during the week of spring practice he attended, where he helped out the defensive coaching staff in meetings and pulled players aside to give them advice after plays, which is something that should be a big help to Washington’s defense this fall.

“I think the players are extremely excited about the opportunity to hear from a guy that has won eight Super Bowls,” Fisch said during spring practice.

The future Hall of Famer is set to join ESPN’s “Manningcast” for Monday Night Football games this fall, which could allow him to spend a lot more time on Montlake if he chooses to.
