NFL Power Rankings over the last few years have become a dime a dozen, i.e., there are so many of the them they have less value.

ESPN, NFL Network, CBS Sports, Ringer.com, Colin Cowherd, SI.com, NBC Sports Network, Bleacher Report, and of course the USA TODAY all announce their power rankings each week of the NFL season.

During the 2020 NFL regular season, I was introduced to the weekly rankings of TV sports talk show “First Things First.” Actually, their source each week is one of their hosts, Nick Wright. I instantly liked the approach Wright brought to the task with his groupings of teams each week and the differing descriptions he provides explaining his groupings.

Of course, it is entirely Wright’s own opinion, though he each week references “the committee,” who dialogued and discussed their rankings/groupings. It is different and entertaining, which is one reason I continue to check weekly to see what Wright constructs as he displays his sense of humor along the way.

Here are his groupings following the Week 12 games, as he mentions the WFT right out of the gate at the start.
