First look at RB Phillip Lindsay practicing with Texans at OTAs

A quick look at Phillip Lindsay in action straight from Houston Texans OTAs.

After beginning his career as a member of the Denver Broncos, running back Phillip Lindsay has a new home.

For the first time in his career, Lindsay will be playing football outside of his hometown of Denver after joining the Houston Texans this offseason. He joined the Texans in March after signing with the team on a one-year deal worth $3.25 million with incentives.

Lindsay will be in competition in a crowded backfield that features the likes of David Johnson, Mark Ingram and Rex Burkhead — the former Patriots who signed with the team on Tuesday. And according to a tweet by EverythingTexans, Lindsay is gaining an early start in securing his spot on Houston’s 53-man roster.

Last season was a down year for Lindsay. Due to injuries and splitting time in Denver’s backfield with Melvin Gordon, Lindsay was limited to 11 games in 2020 and a career-low 270 snaps. And for the first time in his career, Lindsay failed to crack over 1,000 yards in rushing with 502 yards on the ground.

Lindsay’s career got off to a fast start after joining the Broncos as an undrafted free agent in 2018. The 26-year-old running back rushed for a total of 2,048 yards and 16 touchdowns on 416 attempts during his first two years. He received his first and only Pro-Bowl nod during his rookie season.
