It’s been a considerably slow wide receiver free agent market this year. It’s been five days since the free agent negotiating period began and the biggest name to join a new team was Randall Cobb who went to the Texans.
Few teams have a bigger need at wide receiver than the Raiders and even they had not yet made a move at the position. One player who would have made a lot of sense for them was Emmanuel Sanders. Key word “was.” He has just signed with the New Orleans Saints according to ESPN’s Josina Anderson.

This report has been confirmed by Adam Schefter who added the contract details. Sanders gets a 2-year, $16 million deal worth up to $19 million after incentives.
Many though former Jets receiver Robby Anderson was the best on the market and often times the top name goes first. But in a market like this, Anderson may not be seeing the kind of contract offers he had hoped for and the other receivers, such as Sanders, as well as the other teams looking to sign a receiver, won’t sit around and wait forever for the market to be set by the top guy.
So, Anderson is still out there. As is speedster Breshad Perriman, though the Buccaneers are reportedly trying to re-sign Perriman. No doubt his interest in staying was renewed when the team added Tom Brady.
