Final SEC standings after underwhelming bowl season

Here are the final SEC Standings after the conference’s disappointing postseason showing

Texas A&M’s 2024 season ended disappointingly, as coach Mike Elko’s inaugural campaign wasn’t a failure by any means, but after starting the year at 7-1 with an undefeated conference record, only to finish 1-4 with consecutive losses to rival Texas and USC in the Las Vegas Bowl.

Nonetheless, advancements were observed in multiple areas, particularly within the trenches. First-year offensive line coach Adam Cushing appears to be the standout assistant on the staff, notably excelling in recruiting, as securing strong players upfront is essential for establishing a successful offense.

After losing to the Trojans in the final seconds, the Aggies lack momentum outside of landing 12 transfer portal additions. Still, several veterans on the roster have been working out this offseason and showing improvement, especially starting quarterback Marcel Reed, who looks improved as a passer while showing off his arm strength.

In the SEC, Texas, Georgia, and Tennessee qualified for the College Football Playoff. While the Longhorns made it to the semifinals, they were defeated by Ohio State, the eventual champion or runner-up. Overall, the conference finished with a disappointing 8-7 record in the postseason.

While the Big Ten and Big 12 are making moves, the SEC remains king and will return to dominate the headlines in 2025. With that, here are the final SEC standings with the conclusion of the 2024 bowl seasons.
