We’re less than 24 hours away from Texas A&M’s (3-3, 1-2 SEC) road matchup against the South Carolina Gamecocks (4-2, 1-2 SEC) at the always raucous Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia, South Carolina. As both programs are coming off their bye week, the Gamecocks hope to finally break Texas A&M’s win streak in the series once and for all, with the Ag’s leading 8-0 all-time.
Aggies Wire has provided copious amounts of pre-game analysis to satisfy even the most dedicated Aggie fan, so what’s left you may ask? The final injury report ahead of Saturday’s prime-time showdown. On Monday, head coach Jimbo Fisher discussed the team’s current injury status at the start of the week, starting with the availability of quarterback Haynes King who replaced injured starter Max Johnson in the Alabama game, where Fisher stated the King would indeed be available against South Carolina on Saturday night.
Fisher did not confirm who the starter would be on Monday, leaving the door open for the former 5-Star recruit, quarterback Conner Weigman, who would make his first career start with the Aggies if his name was called. However, it remains 50/50 as of today, just as Jimbo Fisher prefers.
Based on my initial injury report from Monday, Fisher did not elaborate on any season-ending injuries, aside from Ainias Smith earlier this season. Finally, there was no mention of defensive end Tunmise Adeleye, defensive tackle Shemar Turner, left tackle Trey Zuhn, or any of the other 9 total starters who missed the Alabama game, though there is the hope that a number of those listed could be available against South Carolina, including linebacker Andre White, and cornerback Tyreek Chappell.
