Fighting Irish Media has been a key component for Notre Dame fans in the digital age. Now, courtesy of a gift from an anonymous benefactor, FIM has created the Roger Vadiserri Student Worker Program. This will allow the athletic department to have more resources than it previously, and it also involves a new award that will be given annually to the top senior communications student assistant.
Valdiserri worked in the athletic department for over three decades, most prominently as its sports information director. He changed how colleges and universities promote their student-athletes and teams. It was his work that helped make the Irish the worldwide brand it is today.
While an athletic department can build its reputation through its accomplishments and championships, it becomes much sweeter when you have someone who knows how to sell your brand to the public, and Valdiserri was masterful at that. Here’s hoping that those who benefit from this program has even a slice of Valdiserri’s legacy.
