EA Sports has announced that the upcoming FIFA 23 will feature women’s club teams and the Women’s World Cup for the first time ever.
The game will only feature two leagues at first, the FA Women’s Super League in England and the French Division 1 Féminine. EA Sports has said it will expand its offering of women’s leagues in the future, which could include the NWSL.
Additionally, both the men’s and women’s World Cups will be available as post-launch updates at no additional cost.
EA Sports has already confirmed that Kylian Mbappe and Sam Kerr will share the cover of FIFA 23, marking the first time a woman is featured on the franchise’s global cover.
In addition to the new leagues, EA also announced the FIFA 23 will feature advancements in the game’s HyperMotion2 technology, as well as new innovations across Career Mode, Pro Clubs, Volta Football, and FIFA 23 Ultimate Team.
FIFA 23 will be the the final game that features FIFA branding after EA Sports announced in May that its partnership with global soccer’s governing body is coming to an end.
The game will be released on September 30 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Stadia, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
