There is good news for the Indianapolis Colts with their first-round draft pick of Laiatu Latu. NFL Insider Field Yates (subscription required) had some great things to say about the former UCLA Bruin star, as he ranked him among the best picks of the 2024 NFL Draft:
“There was no debate for me throughout this process that Latu had the best tape of the defensive players in this class, and he was 12th in my rankings. Medical concerns were the only issue that had to be closely examined — he medically retired with neck issues in 2020 while at Washington before returning and transferring to UCLA — but Indianapolis clearly had the assurance it needed to make a justifiable investment in him. Latu has a refined pass-rush skill set, and he had 23.5 sacks over the past two seasons.”
The Colts are projected by most oddsmakers and experts to finish third in the AFC South. The Indianapolis Colts are +340 to win the AFC South, behind both the Houston Texans and Jacksonville Jaguars.
Now it is time to get to work for Latu and the Colts to live up to the big billing he was given.
