Jon Rahm, with two wins in two starts in 2023, headlines a stellar field for the Farmers Insurance Open.
Rahm won the 2021 U.S. Open at Torrey Pines, one of his two wins at Torrey Pines as he also won the 2017 Farmers for his first professional victory.
It’s a venue where Rahm excels, as he also has a solo second, a tie for third, a tie for fifth, a tie for seventh and a tie for 29th at Torrey Pines.
The Farmers will also feature Collin Morikawa, Justin Thomas, Hideki Matsuyama, Max Homa, Will Zalatoris and Tony Finau.
Also back is the tournament’s defending champion Luke List, who in his 207th PGA Tour start, won for the first time on the PGA Tour in dramatic fashion, outlasting Will Zalatoris in a playoff.
Morikawa will be looking to redeem himself after squandering a 54-hole, six-shot lead at the Sentry Tournament of Champions.
This will be the second year in a row that the Farmers will feature a Wednesday-to-Saturday format. The PGA Tour’s strategy is to avoid a Sunday final round competing for eyeballs against the AFC and NFC Championship games.
Torrey Pines South is a par-72 course that measures 7,765 yards. The first two rounds are played on the South and North course. The South course ranks fourth on the Golfweek’s Best Courses in California.
