The Bengals are the NFL’s lone winless team at 0-10, which hasn’t been the most convenient news for Cincinnati restaurant owner Jeff Lanham.
Lanham, who owns the Hog Rock Cafe, made a bet with a bar patron before the Bengals’ Week 5 loss to the Cardinals. He said that if the Bengals lost to Arizona, he would live on the roof of his restaurant until the Bengals won a game.
And he’s followed through on that promise.
It’s now been six weeks since that 26-23 loss to the Cardinals, and Lanham hasn’t left the tent that he set up on the roof of his restaurant.

On one hand, Lanham has a pretty sweet setup going in that tent. There’s a place to sleep, a 50-inch TV and a ton of Bengals memorabilia. It’s essentially a man cave. But still, the man has been living in a tent for six weeks over a meaningless football bet. He’s generating buzz for his restaurant, but it’s coming at the cost of a warm place to live and seeing his family.
Lanham has also admitted that his days have been painfully boring. Via local12.com:
“It’s so boring, man. You get bored to death during the day. You can’t do anything. You can’t go nowhere. You just sit here.”
He continued:
“I hate not being around my family, that’s probably the worst part. Not being around the family. But I’m going to stick with my word and eventually they have to win.”
The Bengals could theoretically lose out and keep Lanham on a roof until Dec. 29, which would be cold and miserable and … just go home, man. But there are some possible wins coming up for Cincinnati. The Bengals host the Steelers on Sunday and play the Jets on Dec. 1.
