Falcons Wire staff picks NFL Week 7 matchup vs. Seahawks

Our Falcons Wire staff predicts how Sunday’s game against the Seahawks will play out…

The Atlanta Falcons (4-2) took care of business on the road last week with a win over the Carolina Panthers and now they will look to keep the momentum at home against the Seattle Seahawks (3-3) in Week 7.

While the Falcons are favored, the Seahawks were 3-0 before rookie defensive lineman Byron Murphy went down with an injury. Murphy, who called out Atlanta for passing on him in the draft, will return for Sunday’s game as Seattle attempts to end a three-game losing streak.

Check out our Falcons Wire writing staff’s picks ahead of today’s showdown in Atlanta below:

Crissy Froyd (3-2)

Seattle is on a three-game losing streak while the Falcons are riding a high of consistent success. But make no mistake about it, the Seahawks will provide a tough test here. Both teams rank pretty comparatively in just about every single statistical category of note, but the Seahawks do lead the entire league in passing yards, so keeping their air attack at bay will be essential in this one. Atlanta still comes out on top, though.

  • Final Score: Falcons 33, Seahawks 27

Deen Worley (3-2)

The Seahawks started the season off 3-0, but have since dropped three straight games to fall to 3-3. While it would be very “Falcons-like” for them to turn things around against Atlanta, this year’s team feels different. The Falcons must find a way to contain Geno Smith because Seattle’s offense could cause problems if not.

  • Final Score: Falcons 33, Seahawks 20

Matt Urben (4-1)

The Falcons may have some serious flaws but they continue to find a way to pull out close games this season. On the other hand, the Seahawks have a lot to play for and I don’t think they will go down without a fight. Ultimately, I think Atlanta’s experience winning tough games will give the team a mental edge in crunch time on Sunday. Give me the Falcons in a one-point win.

  • Final Score: Falcons 27, Seahawks 26

The Falcons placed outside linebacker Lorenzo Carter on the injured reserve list and signed cornerback Kevin King to the roster on Saturday afternoon. The team also elevated defensive back Natrone Brooks and outside linebacker Demone Harris from the practice squad.

Sunday’s game starts at 1 p.m. ET at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. Make sure to check out the team’s updated injury report, depth chart and 53-man roster for NFL Week 7.
