The Atlanta Falcons will host the Dallas Cowboys in a mid-season showdown this Sunday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. It will be the team’s second time facing an NFC East opponent, having previously defeated the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 2.
Last week, the Falcons outlasted the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a 31-26 victory to improve to 5-3 overall and 4-0 within the division. The Cowboys have lost two straight games, including a 30-24 loss to the San Francisco 49ers in Week 8.
Who will win Sunday’s game in Atlanta? Check out our Falcons Wire writing staff’s predictions for Week 9:
Crissy Froyd (4-3):
The Falcons come into this one with all of the momentum, losing just once the the past five weeks. The Cowboys are nowhere near as stable after losing four of their last six games. Kirk Cousins is particularly hot right now and gives Atlanta the edge at home. | Falcons 31, Cowboys 20.
Deen Worley (4-3):
The Falcons are going to need to do a better job at pressuring the quarterback ton win on Sunday. Cowboys QB Dak Prescott is prone to mistakes when pressured, which was evident the last time Dallas came to Atlanta as the pass rush made the difference in the outcome. Can the Falcons do it again? Maybe. | Falcons 27, Cowboys 14.
Matt Urben (4-3):
Atlanta has won several close games this season but the Cowboys are slightly better than their record suggests. Still, I think the Falcons are healthier coming into Sunday’s game and their offense will present a tough challenge for a banged-up Dallas defense. | Falcons 31, Cowboys 24.
Sunday’s game starts at 1 p.m. ET at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta and will air locally on FOX.
