The Atlanta Falcons are coming off one of their most dominant wins of the season, but their upcoming matchup against the Washington Commanders presents a much bigger challenge.
Rookie quarterbacks Michael Penix Jr. and Jayden Daniels will face off on NBC’s “Sunday Night Football” with both teams fighting for a postseason berth. The Falcons need a win to stay atop the NFC South now that the Buccaneers have defeated the Panthers.
Will Dan Quinn get his revenge game against the Falcons or will Atlanta rise up to the challenge in prime time? Check out our staff picks and predictions for Sunday’s game, which starts at 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC.
Deen Worley (8-6):
Tonight, the Falcons have everything to play for. As a whole, they looked more cohesive a week ago with a new quarterback. However, that was against the Giants who currently have the worst record in football. Tonight’s matchup is a measuring stick on how prepared this team is for postseason football. | Falcons 24, Commanders 21
Matt Urben (8-6):
Benching Cousins paid off for Atlanta in Week 16, and now Penix has a chance to put this team on the brink of a playoff berth. While I initially picked the Commanders to win this game, that was before the Falcons benched Kirk Cousins. Penix may have some nerves but he was incredibly poised in his debut last weekend. Both QBs will shine but Atlanta’s offense will be too much for the Commanders. | Falcons 27, Commanders 24
The Falcons and Commanders are set to kick things off at 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC’s “Sunday Night Football.”
