The Atlanta Falcons officially placed running back Caleb Huntley on the injured reserve list Tuesday and signed outside linebacker David Anenih to the 53-man roster. Huntley’s year is over after he suffered an Achilles injury during Sunday’s loss to the Saints.
In his first NFL season, the former Ball State standout rushed for 366 yards and a touchdown on 4.8 yards per attempt. Obviously, it’s a disappointing end for Huntley, but he established himself as a key member of this Falcons’ running back rotation.
Anenih, 23, is an undrafted free agent out of Houston who previously spent time on the Pittsburgh Steelers and Tennessee Titans’ practice squads. Atlanta’s pass rush hasn’t been much of a factor in recent weeks, so Anenih is worth kicking the tires on.
Here’s the team’s updated 53-man roster heading into Week 16.
