Falcons sign defensive lineman to 16-man practice squad

The Falcons have signed defensive lineman Junior Aho to the practice squad and released Kenny Oginni

The Atlanta Falcons have made a change to their practice squad following Sunday’s 38-20 win over the Carolina Panthers. On Monday, the team signed nose tackle Junior Aho to the practice squad and released defensive lineman Kenny Oginni in a corresponding transaction.

Oginni was part of the NFL’s International Player program, which allowed him to be on the practice squad without counting against the 16-man limit. Aho, who was born in France, now replaces Oginni as Atlanta’s International Player, according to team reporter Terrin Waack.

The 25-year-old went undrafted out of SMU in 2023 before signing with the Minnesota Vikings practice squad. Aho later signed with the Carolina Panthers during the 2024 offseason but was waived via injury settlement in August.

While Aho has yet to appear in a regular-season game, he played in all 13 games for SMU in 2022, recording 23 tackles (13 solo), two sacks and a forced fumble. Check out the team’s updated 53-man roster and practice squad entering NFL Week 7.
