Falcons safety DeMarcco Hellams fined for unnecessary roughness

Falcons rookie safety DeMarcco Hellams has been fined for unnecessary roughness for the second week in a row.

The Atlanta Falcons continue to get fined by the NFL nearly every week. Rookie safety DeMarcco Hellams received was fined for unnecessary roughness, ESPN’s Michael Rothstein reported on Saturday.

Hellams, who was also fined in Week 16, must pay another $4,314 for a hit that he made against the Chicago Bears in Week 17.

A seventh-round pick out of Alabama, Hellams has been an absolute steal for the Falcons this season. The rookie has played in 15 games, racking up 40 tackles (25 solo) and one QB hit.

Hellams was ruled out for Sunday’s season finale against the New Orleans Saints due to a concussion. The Falcons elevated defensive back Natrone Brooks from the practice squad for Week 18.
