Falcons release former second-round pick Marlon Davidson

#Breaking: The Atlanta Falcons have released former second-round pick Marlon Davidson.

The Atlanta Falcons released former second-round pick Marlon Davidson, the team announced on Tuesday afternoon. Davidson, a standout defensive lineman at Auburn, has not played in a game for the Falcons this season.

The team never found a consistent role for Davidson, who appeared in 19 games since being drafted in 2020 by former general manager Thomas Dimitroff. The Falcons fired both Dimitroff and former head coach Dan Quinn five games into the 2020 season, and Davidson wasn’t a great fit in current defensive coordinator Dean Pees’ scheme.

Perhaps the Dallas Cowboys will give Davidson a shot since it’s been a consistent landing spot for former Falcons. Quinn, now serving as the Cowboys defensive coordinator, just signed Kendall Sheffield to the Cowboys’ practice squad.

The Falcons also released OLB Jordan Brailford from the practice squad, and filled his spot with cornerback Thakarius “BoPete” Keyes.
