Falcons met with Michigan QB J.J. McCarthy at scouting combine

Michigan QB J.J. McCarthy said the Falcons were one of 11 teams he met with at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine

The top three quarterbacks in the 2024 NFL draft class are essentially locked in at this point in the offseason, however, there’s another prospect that many are projecting to go in the top 10.

Michigan’s J.J. McCarthy, who’s expected to be the fourth quarterback off the board, put together a solid performance at the NFL Scouting Combine on Saturday. Could the Falcons select McCarthy with the No. 8 overall pick in the draft?

It certainly seems possible, and it’s worth noting that Atlanta was one of 11 teams McCarthy met with at the combine. The Wolverines QB listed each team during an interview with NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah and Rich Eisen.

“Eleven teams,” said McCarthy. “It started off with Washington, then I went to New Orleans, then Denver, then Atlanta. And then, the next day, it was Minnesota, New England, Vegas, Tampa Bay.”

The Falcons are rumored to be interested in Justin Fields, Kirk Cousins, Jayden Daniels, and basically every other available QB on the planet, so take each report with a grain of salt.

McCarthy passed for 2,991 yards and 22 touchdowns while leading the Wolverines to a National Championship during his final season at Michigan.
