Falcons make ‘Mean Girls’ reference ahead of TNF matchup vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Atlanta Falcons know what the significance of Oct. 3 is.

Well, it’s a much-anticipated divisional matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but there is also something a little more to the date that just about any movie fanatic can tell you right off the bat.

Oct. 3 is significant to the movie “Mean Girls,” which the Falcons’ social media team drew a couple of comical references to ahead of Thursday’s prime-time showdown against the Buccaneers

The post was captioned “On Thursdays, we wear throwbacks,” which the Falcons will don in their Week 5 matchup. In the film, “On Thursdays, we wear pink” is one of the biggest phrases used within the social clique:

The Falcons and Buccaneers are set to kick off at 8:15 p.m. ET on Thursday inside Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Atlanta is slightly favored and can take the lead in the NFC South with a win.

In Week 4, the Falcons pulled off a nail-biting victory over the New Orleans Saints to improve to 2-2 for the season. Atlanta’s two losses have come against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 1 and the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 3.
