The Atlanta Falcons continue to ramp up their coaching search, interviewing several top candidates this week, including Packers offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett on Thursday.
Despite looking at several names outside of the organization, Falcons interim coach Raheem Morris hasn’t yet been ruled out for the team’s full-time position in 2021. It seems more likely that Atlanta will go in a different direction, but Morris is certainly worthy of consideration after getting this previously 0-5 Falcons team to show some fight down the stretch.
As reported by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport’s, Morris had a scheduled interview with the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday for their head-coaching vacancy.
Interviews today:
— #Lions will speak with Robert Saleh (#49ers) for HC.
— #Panthers will speak with Champ Kelly (#Bears) for GM. He interviews with the #Broncos tomorrow for their GM job.
— The #Jaguars will interview Raheem Morris (#Falcons) for HC.— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) January 7, 2021
The Jaguars fired head coach Doug Marrone after four seasons following the team’s 1-15 finish in 2020. Morris could be the young, energetic leader a rebuilding team like Jacksonville needs.
Atlanta’s interim coach had a decent run this year after taking over for Dan Quinn, and has previous head-coaching experience from his three seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
