Playoff football could potentially return to Atlanta in a few weeks, but the Falcons won’t be the ones playing if it does.
On Thursday, the NFL determined that Mercedes-Benz Stadium will be used to host a neutral-site AFC Championship game between the Kansas Chiefs and Buffalo Bills, if necessary.

This all stems from the injury to Bills safety Darmar Hamlin, which prompted the NFL to cancel the Week 17 matchup between Cincinnati and Buffalo.
In an effort to make things as fair as possible for the playoffs, the league decided that if an AFC Championship game is played between the Chiefs and Bills, it would be played at a neutral site.
That site just so happens to be Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. The potential game is currently scheduled for Sunday, January 29.
