Falcons expressed interest in Chiefs CB L’Jarius Sneed, per report

The #Falcons were one of seven teams to show interest in Chiefs CB L’Jarius Sneed, USA TODAY reported on Wednesday

The Atlanta Falcons have been connected to another big-name player, but for once, it’s not a quarterback. A new feature from USA TODAY’s Tyler Dragon named the Falcons as one of seven teams to show interest in trading for Kansas City Chiefs cornerback L’Jarius Sneed.

Atlanta has some uncertainty at the cornerback position with Jeff Okudah set to hit free agency and A.J. Terrell still looking for a long-term deal. The Chiefs placed the franchise tag on Sneed but he reportedly has permission to seek a trade:

As expected, the Kansas City Chiefs officially placed the franchise tag on cornerback L’Jarius Sneed. Sneed still has permission to seek a trade despite the designation. Sneed, 27, has developed into a quality player in Kansas City since being selected in the fourth round of the 2020 draft. Over the last three seasons, Sneed has started 48 games, recording seven interceptions, 33 passes defended and four forced fumbles.

The Chiefs won their second straight Super Bowl last month, and unlike previous years, their defense carried the team while the offense struggled for much of the season. Sneed is in the prime of his career and deserves to be paid.

Would the Falcons consider giving up more assets to upgrade a secondary that is already pretty solid? It likely comes down to the cost, but there’s no harm in testing the waters.
