The Atlanta Falcons announced several transactions ahead of Sunday night’s game against the Washington Commanders. The team placed cornerback Antonio Hamilton on the injured reserve list and signed linebacker Josh Woods to the 53-man roster.
Hamilton missed practice this week due to a quad injury he sustained during the team’s Week 16 win over the New York Giants. Now the veteran cornerback’s season is officially over.
Woods, 28, has appeared in 68 games (eight starts) over his six-year NFL career, recording 123 tackles (77 solo), one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. The veteran linebacker was active in three other games for the Falcons this season.
Atlanta also elevated cornerback Lamar Jackson and offensive lineman Tyrone Wheatley Jr. from the practice squad for Week 17. It’s the first time either player has been elevated to the roster this season.
Jackson can add some depth to Atlanta’s banged-up secondary since cornerback Kevin King was also ruled out for Sunday’s game due to a concussion.
Sunday night’s game starts at 8:20 p.m. ET and will air nationally on NBC. The Commanders are currently 3.5-point favorites over the Falcons. Check out Atlanta’s updated depth chart, 53-man roster and injury report for Week 17.
