Former Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator Arthur Smith will be the next head coach of the Atlanta Falcons.
After a lengthy interview process that featured meetings with several teams, Smith has agreed to a deal with the Falcons, according to the team on Twitter.
Smith will now take the reins of a Falcons team that just went 4-12 last season but already has some established pieces on the offensive side of the ball in Julio Jones and Matt Ryan — that is, if Atlanta holds onto them.
The problem for the Falcons is that they are in salary cap hell and are in need of a full rebuild, so Smith will have his work cut out for him.
We have agreed to terms with Arthur Smith to become our next head coach.

The Falcons are getting arguably the hottest head-coaching candidate this offseason in Smith, who called the plays for the Titans’ elite offense the past two seasons.
During his tenure as offensive coordinator in Tennessee, the Titans had two of their best offensive seasons in franchise history. Derrick Henry and A.J. Brown both became stars, and Ryan Tannehill’s career saw a resurgence.
Now the Titans will be tasked with replacing Smith, and it’ll be interesting to see if he ends up taking any members of the Titans’ current coaching staff with him to Atlanta.
