2003 was a special year in recruiting for Lloyd Carr’s Michigan football program. Not only did the coach steal Woodley away from MSU’s grasp, but he managed to go into the state of Ohio and nab safety Prescott Burgess, the top player in the Buckeye State.

Burgess made his pledge at the 2003 Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio, and many in Columbus felt the Warren (Ohio) Warren G Harding star was theirs to lose. However, he not only spurned Ohio State, but he went on to have a solid career in Ann Arbor.

He is listed by 247Sports as the 119th all-time recruit, regardless of position.

Burgess moved to linebacker upon arriving in Ann Arbor, where he tallied 129 tackles with 10.5 for loss, 4 sacks, and 4 interceptions in three years of play.

He was selected in the sixth round of the 2007 NFL draft by the Baltimore Ravens, where he spent the entirety of his four-year career.
